Before building a ROBOT or choosing ROBOT concepts it is important to analyze the game strategy and figure out which tasks matter most. To do this, we evaluated every scoring action based on its difficulty and point value and set clear goals for teams with different experience levels.
As explained in the Game Strategy, it is better for the Beginner Teams to focus on scoring in the FLOWERS rather than shooting into the HIVE.
AUTO
Because robots cannot score in FLOWERS during AUTO, new teams should focus on tasks like LEAVE and PARK. Beginner robots can also help their ALLIANCE by taking POLLEN out of the FLOWERS and leaving them on the floor for future use.
There are 3 options for AUTO which beginner teams can use, based on the ALLIANCE’s preference.
Start in square A6/F1.
Pin preloaded POLLEN against the far ARENA wall.
Go to square A5/F2 (away from the wall) to PARK and LEAVE

TELEOP
SUPPORT (2:00 - 1:00)
During the first 60 seconds of TELEOP, focus on helping the ALLIANCE partner by picking up POLLEN and NECTAR from the TILES and delivering them to the shooting robot.
SCORE (1:00 - 0:10)
In the last 60 seconds switch to placing NECTAR and POLLEN into the FLOWERS to own them and earn maximum points.
PARK (00:10 - 00:00)
In the last 5-10 seconds, drive the robot to the LOADING ZONE and PARK before time runs out.
MATCH & RANKING POINTS
The Beginner robot plays a supporting role in the ALLIANCE. Its main job is to gather SCORING ELEMENTS, move them where needed, and focus on filling FLOWERS during the last 60 seconds of the MATCH.
With optimal play, a Beginner robot can contribute 97 points and help earn 4 RANKING POINTS (RPs).
